When kids play sports, they learn how to work together, follow directions and socialize with others. Kids In Sports promotes the idea that athletics, when taught correctly, can improve a child’s overall development and provide lasting benefits that go beyond the game.
Our customized multi-sports program has been designed to equip children with greater life skills, helping them find early success so that they can grow up happy, healthy, confident and more prepared for the future ahead.
Developed by educators, Kids In Sports is a proprietary sports curriculum teaching multi-sports classes, rather than just one specific sport.
With a 1 to 5 coach to kid ratio, instructors are able to introduce children to a range of team based sports that are age appropriate and help build necessary developmental skills for every age level.
Kids In Sports is a specialized sports program for children ages 12 months to 12 years. Instructing children in multi-sport or specific-sport classes focusing on: Baseball, Basketball, Flag Football, Floor Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer and Volleyball. Pre-school alternatives, after-school programs, camps and birthday parties are also available throughout the year.
Kids In Sports was founded in 1999 by Michael Strutt & Kenneth Colon. Both former collegiate sports athletes, Mike and Kenny hold degrees in Physical Education and Exercise Physiology. In addition to teaching, they’ve also worked professionally as accredited Personal Trainers and Coaches.
Together, they developed Kids In Sports to help younger children learn the fundamentals of sports, along with coordination, adaptability and improved social skills.
After many years of teaching Kids In Sports classes, Mike and Kenny have expanded their business and now handle all the day-to-day operations and management. They oversee a staff of trained educators, who have had the privilege of teaching thousands of children through this proprietary program.

After a three-year permanent assignment to the 18th Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, she and her family decided to make Fayetteville, North Carolina their home. Sonji is certified in adult Physical Fitness, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Positive Discipline, and she is currently seeking certifications in Youth Fitness and Sports Nutrition.
After retirement, Sonji dedicated her time to taking care of her family as a stay-at-home mother. Experiencing her two-year old’s high energy, she researched programs that were available to children of his age, finding minimal results that could both challenge him physically and mentally, until she discovered Kids In Sports. Offering a supportive environment emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and communication, she knew this was the perfect fit for herself and her son, so she opened the first Kids In Sports franchise in North Carolina.
Sonji looks forward to partnering with local schools, churches, and daycares for additional Kids In Sports locations and also opening another Kids In Sports franchise in North Carolina.
